Centrale - MARTINENGO

I visited this town in the south of Bergamo province. It took us 30 minutes to enter this very small town. The one way streets are the most ilogical I have seen in the 140 countries I have visited in the world. After we stopped 3 times in front of restaurants and found them closed, we managed to park the car at the outskirts, walk under the medioeval porticos and were directed to the Bar Centrale. Here we found the most scorbutic owner/manager ever met in 50years of travelling. Silent, angry, aloof, irritable. Thanks god the food was brilliant. A choice of vegetable starters in a huge, massive plate; maccheroni with venison sauce, saltimbocca with polenta. Ginseng coffee, One bottle of mineral water and one of red wine. All for €24 for 2. No credit or debit cards accepted an no notice outside of this. Thanks god we had cash. If you want to eat well and cheap do go there. If you want to relax, avoid it.
