Evacuated from Calistoga during the wine country fires, so I ate at Nick's Cove three meals a day for four days straight.
Absolutely love this place; it has incredible charm and is right on the water, a simple ride from Mill Valley, but you feel like you are away worlds! The food is surprisingly good and they end a renovation so that the restaurant and the rooms are refreshed, but still feel only picturesque and warm. I'm dying to go back on a solo trip, or a winter weekend with my husband, just to relax. And eat fish and chips!
Got a friend's birthday. It was highly recommended, but we were very disappointed. Some food came out cold. There were no clams in the chowder (3 people ordered it and no one got clams). Too much celery in the Clam-Chowder. That was a great disappointment because I am most looking forward to fresh shells. Lack of spices during dishes. Overpriced. You need to order your food, then pick it up from the counter. Too casual for prices. A friend mentioned that you feel in the way while waiting for food. We also had Moscow Mules. Very good.
We were disappointed that they don't have table service anymore. We sat at the bar and ordered from their limited menu. Big change from how it used to be. The oysters came quickly and were fresh and tasty. Three of us had fish and chips the other had clams. The fish and chips were okay, not crispy enough for my taste. Good cocktails and wine and a good bartender. Probably won't go back, though. Better fish and chips at the Hop Monk.
