He has regular customers who come frequently and have a good relationship with this restaurant. We highly recommend this place.
Let me say, first, that the restaurant itself is far from being attractive. Furniture and decoration are quite essential.Still, if you decide to give it a chance, you won't regret it. The food is excellent, and the staff extremely friendly. I read some reviewers complaining about the size of the portions: if you are looking for jumbo portions that force you to ask for the doggy bag at the end, this is definitely not the place for you. Like most places in Europe, you get a reasonably-sized meal. I got a starter and a main course (which includes rice and a side dish of choice), and it was just ok. Prices are in line with any other french "brasserie".
Being completely unfamiliar with Mauritius cuisine, we didn’t quite know what to expect. Turns out, the little cosmopolitan island is quite the melting pot of cultures, and this blend of Creole, Indian, Chinese and European flavours is reflected in its culinary offerings. The food came out fast, and we had a lovely conversation with the owner/waiter Daniel. The owner was a really friendly man who was hell-bent on re-creating Mauritius for his diners. It was lashing with wind and rain outside, but inside, he cranked the heating right up, and served the alcoholic beverages with a very liberal hand. The aperitifs at 4€ were comparable in price to most other restaurants, but here, Daniel served up DOUBLE the quantity. We could hardly finish the meal, there was just so much food. We found this meal to be our best dining experience on this trip, between the friendliness and generosity of the owner, and the novelty of trying a completely new cuisine.
Sweaty restaurant with an outdoor decoration very guinguette exotic(open air café exotic) with multicoloured garlands, photo of the bottom, the turtle on
If you're looking for out-of-the-way, offbeat & inexpensive, this place is perfect. The food was exotic & delicious and the host was not only gracious & accommodating but even entertaining - gave us a tour & gifts. I'd go here again every time. Don't miss it, if you're in Marseille.
