I have visited this restaurant multiple times because it is conveniently located on my way home. During my last visit, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his wife, who were extremely welcoming and friendly.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic, served in a clean environment and at an affordable price. I recently tried the sub of the day on Wednesday, which was the sweet onion chicken teriyaki.
We all have our favourite sub in mind every time we step into a Mr. Sub or Subway franchise. Having grown up in the business and witnessing first hand the behind the scenes look at how subs are prepared and everything else you need to know about the business, I still have my pros and cons about eating at any one of these establishments. My meal choices often lead me down a sub path electing for a more nutritious option. This particular location was very clean, organized and with great service. I ordered a footling club on fresh Italian bread which was still warm. If I have one grip about the way subs are made today, (and my relatives who were some of the original members of these franchises) is that they cut the meat as thin as possible. Ever since the Sub business discovered how to cheap out on the meat slicing, it's become an epidemic among these places. I knew well a few "mom and pop" places that figured out cutting thin meant more profits. A couple of those locations are closed now. I wonder why? Unless you're doubling up on your meat order, your tasting more bread and lettuce than meat, which is so unsatisfying. I have heard time and again from friends that would say, they would pay a little more if they could get more meat. Are we listening subway? Until then, if you can find a great "mom and pop" place which makes great subs or sandwiches then stick with that. Otherwise, continue to be like me and resort to the same mistake of eating out super thinly sliced meat.
