Komeya - Markham

First time trying the Poke at Komeya! I got the salmon avocado with sushi rice. Overall I enjoyed it and liked the cafe aesthetic. The salmon and avocado were good and went well with the sushi rice. The one thing I didn't like is the tomatoes in the dish however. I though they didn't compliment the dish well. Overall found it decent but not super memorable: 3.5 stars

A hidden gem for poke bowls! This small shop features just two tables and a bar area by the window. Initially hesitant, we were so glad we decided to give it a try. We ordered a tuna kale noodle bowl and a salmon poke bowl—essentially the same dish except for the type of fish and carb. The poke bowl surpassed those I've had at various sushi spots, but the kale noodles truly stole the show. They were delightfully springy and paired perfectly with the sesame sauce. We also ordered a miso udon for our child. While I can’t compare it to ramen since it’s udon, the ramen egg was superior to what I've experienced at many ramen places.

The ingredients were fresh, but the portion sizes were somewhat small. The poke bowl with salmon and kale noodles had a good amount of vegetables, but there wasn’t much salmon or noodles included. The shredded beef in black pepper sauce could have benefited from more greens as well. I've definitely had more flavorful poke bowls in the past. As for parking, there's limited space around the condo building, and there's a two-hour time limit.

This charming little café offers a cozy dining experience with a wide variety of options to choose from. The staff is friendly, and the decor is delightful. While the pop music playing in the background isn't really to my taste, it's tolerable. My favorite dish is definitely the kale cold noodles with salmon; it's incredibly delicious, feels healthy and satisfying, and the sesame sauce is absolutely fantastic. Their pork ramen is decent, but I find that hot noodles aren't their strong point. I tried a bubble tea once, and it was a great size for the price and very flavorful. Be aware that seating can fill up quickly, especially on weekends!

Update (3/11/2023): Still just as delicious! I ordered my usual, and the quality remains excellent!
