Golden Shanghai Restaurant - Markham

I absolutely love ordering this dish from the restaurant! It's a pastry topped with sesame seeds filled with pan-fried pork bits and vegetables. The pork is flavorful and when you spoon it into the pastry, it creates a small bun that you can hold and enjoy. It's one of my favorite things to eat here.

Wow, this restaurant is a hidden gem! We tried the steamed pork dumplings, hand-torn chicken, duck, soup, and fried rice and they were all absolutely delicious.

The Xiao Long Bao, my favorite dish, looked nothing like the traditional steamed soup dumplings I was expecting. The Man Tou resembled long guotei dumplings instead. The stewed pig bone, a signature dish in Shanghainese cuisine, was a mess on the plate with the bone loose and the pork skin wrapped awkwardly around the meat. The presentation of the food was so poor that I was surprised the chef allowed such subpar dishes to leave the kitchen. While the taste was alright, I cannot overlook the lack of care in the cooking and presentation. I will not be returning, especially if there is a new cook. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos to show how disappointing the dishes looked; words cannot adequately convey the disappointment.
