We took my mother in law here for a lunch. We thought it was a good choice as we did enjoy food here. Ordered their featured Beijing roasted duck and a vegetable dish. 15 minutes in when they brought vegetable dish, the server advised my husband that duck wouldn't be ready for a while. When asked how long is "the while", server said "I don't know". Since my husband needs to go back to work, he insisted for an answer to decide what to do. The server came back saying "any time between half an hour and an hour". When he asked why it took so long, there came a couple nonsensical answers: we just open; we are busy. Ugh, first we can see you are not that busy (11:30am on a weekday); second, if duck is your most famous featured dish, wouldn't you get it ready before you open? Then a couple people came by, appearing to be apologetic but didn't do anything to make it right. We ended up cancelling the duck. I was wondering whether our order was pushed behind others because we only ordered two dishes.A few questions came out of this : 1) why did server inform the cooking time of duck 15 minutes in? 2) why did nobody even offer to make it right by giving a coupon or taking the vegetable dish off the bill? We've been to restaurants that refunded money when they did something wrong. Overall disappointing experience and probably won't go back for a long while.
I order th spicy clam but specify not spicy because I have kids. After 5 minutes, it comes with hot chilli,I told the server please change, few minutes later it comes with soy sauce only and it is extremelly cold. I realized the kitchen staff just washed the spicy clam and put soy sauce on it. Unbelieveable. Terrible experience, not recommend toanyone else.
This restaurant does offer unique Northern Chinese dishes. However, its signature roast duck is over hyped and a bit over priced.
We went there for roast duck which was recommended by our son. With high expectations, we're not disappointed. There were two editions of the roast duck. The featured one called signature was tastier than the regular one called Peking style according to our son. We ordered a regular one which was not surprisingly good but definitely not disappointing. We went there, being told to come back after about a half hour when a table would be available. So we went shopping. Be prepared to wait for a table. The services were considered good too. The next time we would order a featured one to see if it is really different from the regular one.
