The Watermark Bay View Bakery

I was quite disappointed with my experience. After being seated, it took over an hour and a half just to get our drinks ordered. This wouldn't have bothered me as much if other tables, seated after us, weren’t receiving their drinks within five minutes. Once we finally got our drinks, it took another hour before we could order our food, while others who arrived much later were already enjoying both their drinks and meals. Frustrated, I approached the server/manager, who apologized and offered to comp half our bill and give my grandmother a free dessert. In total, we spent four and a half hours there.

Went last Saturday at 11am, asked for a booth but was told they were all reserved, it wasn't busy at all but ok, was seated at a table and given drinks and sat there for 45 minutes while the hostess walked by numerous times and the waitress walked by numerous times, watched the hostess seat people, the waitress take orders, serve their food, and clean off the table. Maybe we were not in her area or section but she knew what was going on and could have gotten a waitress or served us herself, same for the hostess, we walked out, went to Perkins, got served and food was great, left a 20.00 tip for the waitress and wonderful service. The Watermark was the worst service we have ever had. So sad.

I ordered the Swedish pancakes along with some bacon and was curious about trying the lingonberry syrup, although I had never tasted it before. The waitress kindly brought me both the lingonberry and traditional maple syrup. Ultimately, I decided on the lingonberry, and it was absolutely delicious. I've just started using my Google account for reviews, documenting my visits to various places across the country. I'm surprised to see so many recent negative reviews about this restaurant, as my experience was quite the opposite. I truly hope my positive visit is more typical than the negative comments suggest, and I look forward to returning on my next trip to the UP. I highly recommend this place!

Delicious food at fantastic prices, along with a beautiful view of the bay!
