Upon walking in, the place looked very rustic and had a bunch of decor around the area. The pub does have different openings you can enter. One has a dining area and the other one is more so of for getting drinks and socializing (more so of a bar area). Throughout the pub, there are different rooms where you can sit and relax and enjoy the bustling atmosphere. It can get a little loud when it 's crowded but that 's expected of a pub. There 's a live band that plays sometimes too! The service was really really good! The bartenders were very helpful and quick to serve us. Now, this is not the usual you sit down and order concept, you order your food and drinks both at the bar. You get your drinks there and they bring out your food to your table. Our server was very quick and attentive to us as well, even after he brought out our food. Here 's what we got (I went with my husband and a group of friends): Peach cider: 8/10 tart, refreshing, delicious! I could taste the distinct peach flavor and it was very refreshing to drink on a hot summer day. I wish there were a little bit more of the peach flavor because I love peaches! Fish and chips: 8.5/10 For the price and quality, this was worth it! I do not like fish that is fishy to the taste and I could not taste the fishiness of the fish (cod) and the batter was fried to perfection. The chips (french fries) were delicious as well! The seasoning they put on the fries gave it nice zing and the tartar sauce was superb! I added freshly squeezed lemon juice to my fish and malt vinegar to my fries and dipped it with the tartar sauce. Each bite tasted like I was in heaven. The portion size was reasonable for the price as well! I will say that the fish was a little bit oily but the flavor was so good! Chicken Schnitzel: 7/10 I had a bite of my husband 's dish and it was really flavorful. The chicken patty was fried perfectly and the mushroom and gravy sauce was light and not too heavy. I wish there was more mushroom flavor because I love the robust taste of mushrooms but nonetheless, it was pretty good. The only reason I 'm knocking off one star is because the bathroom was kind of dirty. The trash was filled to the brim and there was alot of dust and dirt in there. It just didn 't overall feel clean. Overall, I would come back for the drinks and food. I 've never been to Ireland so I can 't compare how it is to the pubs over there but I will say that me and my friends enjoyed our time here.
Fun atmosphere, fantastic for a pint a bite. Nothing says fantastic dive bar like sawdust on the floor and Christmas decorations up in March. Our lunch started with a chef's choice charcuterie board. Everything was enjoyable. Loved every meat selection and got to sample the house potato salad. (Best side in the house). Draft house alcoholic root beer was a tasty treat. 70 beers on tap. We ordered a burger and a Philly to split. Pass on the Philly. Bread to meat ratio is not favorable. Or, if your drunk, perfect filler bread ratio. Burger was thick and flavorful. Tots- soooo crispy Brussel sprouts- well seasoned though little watery Garlic mash- meh. Fresh, house made, skip-able Bartender was a joy. Solid showing. Would go back again for a relaxing, non rushed drinking lunch. Oh- the Ugly Cake. On of the best slices of fluffy cream filled dripped hard top chocolate cake ever. Not too sweet. Get it.
This is the certainly the definition of a dive bar. Dark and grungy, I debated whether to even have a drink here. I tried their MacCrackens IPA; I don't know who makes this for them but it was not very good. Patrons order at the bar as there is no table service. The weekend I was here, there were only two people working: one behind the bar and one in the kitchen. Service was slow to get a drink, but the bartender was friendly. He was also responsible for busing the tables, needless to say the place was in disarray. I used the restroom while I was there and it was just gross. Old, nasty fixtures, dirty, and no hand soap! Glad I didn't eat here. The interior of the restaurant was also thick with dust, doesn't look like it has ever been dusted. Hard pass on any future visits.
What was a very good experience initially turned into a really not so great experience I came here as someone visiting from Michigan I had two Guinness and an order of wings totaling about $24 come to find out at checkout that if you use a card to pay they put a $50 hold on your card and don't even return it right away I was told it would be returned in 1-2 days the bartender was great and she did nothing wrong but that's absolutely asinine to do to any customer in this industry I will not return
Does an out-of-town tourist type guy go to the local Irish Pub? Yes, and it was spur of the moment. Uh oh, that's dangerous for an Irish descendent! Now, I'm, not a bar guy or a beer drinker but, I had just come out of the coin shop next door, with a serendipitous purchase of an 1838 coin that was representative of my great grandfather's election to the sheriff in 1838 in this town! I felt like celebrating. Also, it was afternoon traffic time so....I stepped into the Pub. Definite Go
