Counted 4 waiting staff rushing hectically from room to room, apparently empty handed. A waitress slapped 2 menus on the table as she walked past without saying a word. Left reading the menu for another 25 minutes and never being asked if we would like something to drink. The first word spoken to us was after we were leaving and the Head Waiter said Waited too long,, eh? and disappeared before I could reply. Happy for the people who enjoyed their food but we never even had the opportunity to order.
After reading the many positive reviews of this place, we came here expecting excellent food and atmosphere, but we found neither. The decor and server uniforms were outdated and a bit kitschy. Our waitress was fine but we noticed some of the other servers serving food and drinks rather unprofessionally. We started with bruschetta, which was tasty but nothing special and lacked in flavor complexity. We each had a pasta dish (mine was tagliatelle with mushrooms and garlic and was described as spicy, but turned out to be rather bland no spice at all, and with only a hint of garlic flavor. My boyfriend ordered four cheese gnocchi which was quite heavy on the blue cheese and was also decent, but not great. We finished with creme caramel and tiramisu, opting for these since they were both housemade. However, both desserts were underwhelming at best really not a good way to finish the meal. We did have an odd experience while paying we sat for 10+ minutes waiting for our waitress to bring our change (as we had put down significantly more cash than the bill expecting change to tip appropriately and she, unlike the other server, did not have a wallet but finally had to ask her for it. Overall, we felt the portions were a bit small for the price and left feeling only sort of full and glad we'd gotten some snacks at the grocery store that afternoon. The decor and plating were outdated (odd paper napkins and parsley sprinkled everywhere! . The food was decent but really not great. We probably wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious or refreshing dining experience and also are in no hurry to return. Also if you don't speak German, beware the English menu is not up to date in either content or pricing.
We have been eating here several times now, since almost 4 years. The food is really good and the atmosphere is cosy. I would definitely recommend the pleus a la chef (grilled mushroom with garlic, sage and olive oil), our favourite starter. Pizza is ok (not excellent but decently good), but there is much more on the menu that is definitely worth trying! People from the staff are friendly and the owner is always going around and chatting with customers. In summer, get a seat outside if you have a chance and you´ll have a scenic view over the market place and the castle. Fair prices, a bit more expensive than the average italian restaurant in Germany

I had black ravioli with Truffle/cheese filling in a cream sauce, which was very nice. The home-made pasta was delicious but the overall dish lacked a 'wow' factor. It was very good. The cannelloni was also very good, and filling, but also lacked a 'wow' factor. Charming atmosphere. Giovanni the owner is always warm and friendly, his staff is less so.
