Vietnam Star - Maplewood

My husband, 1.5 year old daughter and I had lunch at Vietnam Star during 2024 Lunar New Year!! We had the best time- wonderful service, excellent food and even a special new year gift I cannot recommend enough! Best Vietnamese restaurant in Minnesota!

Friendly staff and decent atmosphere, prices are a little higher than expected. Phò was just ok. The broth was oily and didn 't have a lot of flavor (can 't remember the last time I 've added so much Sriracha and hoisin). The rare steak and meatballs were cut very thick and irregular, and there wasn 't much in it, especially for a jumbo bowl. No option for tripe or brisket. Egg rolls were pretty good, very large with a flaky, crunchy wrap. Have not tried any other menu items but if you 're looking specifically for phó there are better options in the area.

Eat there cause love pho. There are foreign objects in buddy's pho twice. Worker also sweep seats with broom that swept the floor. Also has a sign that they will charge more for arguing with workers. Never look at it again since.

I was craving Asian food and remembered that I had a good meal last time I was there, but today was not a good day. I ordered a chicken and shrimp rice dish and was given pork and shrimp. It still tasted good but the portion was MUCH smaller than the picture on the menu. Then I was over-charged, didn't get an itemized bill, just a total, which came to $20 for a $14 meal. Employee said there is a 3% charge for credit cards, but my math tells me I was charged 30%. This came after I was over-charged for something at Target, so I'm not happy today with poor customer service. There are plenty of Asian restaurants in the area. I'll go elsewhere next time.
