Along with some potato salad and beans. Prices are on par with most quality bbq restaurants, it is a purchase by the pound place. Meat was juicy and tender (I do admit I prefer a smokier flavor) Beans were delicious, potato salad was a bit sweeter than I prefer but still tasty. Service was good, guys at the counter were friendly and made us feel welcome. I definitely recommend Old Bucs if you’re looking for good BBQ.
Stopped in yesterday after work and got some moist brisket and pork ribs. I’ve eaten here before and the food was great, but yesterday not so much. The brisket was good but the pork ribs were almost inedible. They were dry, and tasted like they had been in the warmer for too long. I decided to get the ribs based on the lady in front of me got some and they looked delicious. Sorry guys, but it was a real letdown.
Very good BBQ in Manvel. Meats sold by the pound but able to get small amounts so we could try a variety of things. Can recommend the brisket, pork ribs, and burnt ends. Beans and Porato salad are very good (personally, I could have used less mayonaise in the potato salad but i still enjoyed the flavor). Generous individual sides. Took home sausage and will try beef rib next time. Enjoy!Parking: Adequate parking for mostly take out business. Might get tighter if they become more popular, and I do want them to become more popular.
Old Bucs BBQ is the best BBQ in the Manvel/West Pearland area. The restaurant itself is a very small shack with a drive-thru. I always go for the brisket, which is always mouthwatering and tender. They also have links, burnt ends (both beef or pork belly) which are amazing. The only gripe about this place is that it's only opened on the weekend. Hopefully they could be open everyday sometime in the future
My wife and I were at an estate sale in Manvel, and as we were leaving I decided to see if there was anything good to eat that was close. I opened up my Google maps and found out we were several hundred feet away from Old Bucs! We were worried because it was still before 10:30, but apparently they had just opened. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but the family running the place was very friendly. As we were trying to decide what to order, we knew we were going to have brisket, we were offered a sample of the brisket which was very nice. We usually get sausage too, but had read reviews about their pork ribs so got those too . Their meats are sold by the pound, so we got a pound of brisket but they let us just order a rib apiece. For sides we also ordered a personal sized pinto bean and potato salad (again, because of previous reviews). We were asked if we wanted all of the trimmings, and we said yes. Their selection of drinks is fairly limited, they offer bottled drinks and water, but I was happy that their Dr. Pepper is the all cane sugar/glass bottle version. All the food was delicious, and at a better price than a lot of other BBQ joints. We spent just over $20 each, including a tip. Their brisket was very tender and smokey, excellent overall. The ribs might have been better than the brisket. Very tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I actually started my meal by eating one of their pickles, because they looked so good. I was pleasantly surprised that it was sweet/spicy and wished that I had known how good they were beforehand so I could have asked for the extras (although I am sure I probably could have just gone to the counter and asked for more). The potato salad was very creamy and well-seasoned, close to the best I have had with BBQ. The beans were better. Pinto beans are usually fairly boring, but these were not. They were spicy, but not too much, with a nice blend of spices and bacon. This place may not seem like a top notch BBQ joint when you drive up, and it might seem like it 's in the wrong direction from Houston, but if you want some really good 'que, and at a good price, you might want to head south on Highway 6.Parking: Way more parking than seats inside. They also offer drive-through.
