Only tried their shabu shabu... The restaurant has a good feel... Good food as well... Staff is very accomodating... We usually dine here whenever the team needs some unwinding... Still moving shrimps pierced by bbq sticks is a brutal yummy sight...
This is one of our go-to Chinese restaurants. Food is really good, but its kinda pricey though. The Lechon Kawali is a must try! The skin is really crispy and the meat is really soft. It isn't too oily and either and is cooked just right. Another dish that you should try is the Simon-Style Steamed Fish. I don't think this is on the menu and I don't even know how we came to know about it, but my grandfather ordered it for CNY and it is hella good. They Hainanese Chicken had a generous amount of serving considering that we only ordered half portion size. We ordered too much food and had to take home the Cha Misua and for some reason, it tastes better when reheated. It isn't included in the picture, but another must try dish is the Crab Rice. It kinda takes long to cook so its better to order this in advance or when you aren't in a hurry or that hungry yet. All I can say is that its worth the wait. They also give hand gloves if you don't want to get your hands dirty. All in all, its a good restaurant. They also have dimsum and shabu-shabu if you don't feel like eating ala carte ????
This is the best Tao Yuan branch. My experience with the others was so-so. I liked their chili crab, though still not at par with the authentic ones in Singapore. I did not like their hainanese chicken rice. Wee Nam Kee and Boon Tong Kee serve better versions. The version in Your Local is the best for me. If you order laksa, make sure it's the head chef (I forget his name. I think he's Singaporean) himself that prepares it. Otherwise, avoid ordering it.
What's not to love about Tao Yuen? Great Singaporean food has found a home here, as they serve a rockin' Hainanese Chicken, Cereal prawns (150 a piece), Fish Head Curry (have lots of rice ready) and Bak Kut Teh. If you love shabu-shabu or hotpot, their version is good although a bit expensive, but it is true to the flavor as there are spareribs in your soup and it is not just soup stock. From balls to dumplings, everything's spot on delectable. Parking at their Malate branch is at the lot nearby, expect a lot of customers and diners. You might be lost in their menu if it's your first time. If you came here for the food, you won't be disappointed.
