Bagels Beyond - MANAHAWKIN

The bagels here are consistently delicious. However, my main issue lies with their customer service. The Ocean Acres location is a bit more welcoming than the BHW location, but it seems that most employees are either unhappy in their jobs or just plain rude. I don’t understand why this is tolerated. Honestly, I’m not sure why I continue to return, or why anyone else would, especially since they seem to have a monopoly on the bagel market in Manahawkin.

Having worked in food service myself, I understand how challenging it can be to handle customers at times, so I tried to remain polite. They prepared the bagel for me, but then the employee brought out two hot coffees instead of the iced ones I had requested. Meanwhile, the owner was busy making my iced coffees. The situation was quite confusing. After making the coffees, the owner asked if the employee had taken our order for them—this is not something you should ask in front of customers. They seemed unable to determine what had gone wrong, and in her frustration, the owner abruptly told us to just take the coffees. This is no way to treat customers, and it left me feeling disappointed. Overall, the place is very disorganized with terrible service. I left feeling quite let down.

We called the restaurant to inform them about the mix-up, and when we asked what to do with the food we had already opened, they told us to bring it back. Upon our return, they hadn't even started preparing the correct order. What's more, the customer who had ordered the food we mistakenly received was there ahead of us. The staff suggested that this customer could eat the food we had already touched, but when he realized it had been opened, he requested a new sandwich, which they did provide. While I absolutely love the food at Bagels Beyond, the service was disappointing. Especially during COVID, it doesn't seem appropriate to offer food that has already been handled by someone else to another customer. That part made me really uncomfortable.

If you want a bagel sandwich that is consistently made wrong over the years, go to this location. It tastes fine, just be prepared for about 85% of the time they will get it wrong. You can order a bagel breakfast sandwich they 'll put it on a different bagel than what you asked for. Or you order something like a PC (Pork roll Cheese ONLY) bagel sandwich when you get it you have a PEC (Pork roll, EGG Cheese) sandwich on a different bagel than what you ordered. Or they added ketsup to an order that didn 't want it etc. If it 's not one thing, it 's another. They should rename this place Bagel Grab Bag , because you never know what you are going to get.

Best bagel place in the area. Highly recommend jalapeño cheddar bagels and the olive cream cheese. This is the main one where all the bagels are baked.
