There is absolutely no comparison to the former restaurant which had a few negative reports.Might I suggest that perhaps a new name might get rid of the old cobwebs too. It is not a large menu but extensive enough to suit a variety of palates. Our waiter was very attentive but not intrusive. Very professional. He was polite and well presented (an owner?). Well prepared meals (3 beef tenderloins and a chicken dish). The beef was cooked to medium as one would expect. Very tender. Served with chips and salad on the side. A delicious béarnaise sauce accompanied the dish. Small selection of wines at a good price. We selected the Taylors Shiraz (Promised Land) which suited our main. Main was about $33, wine $27. There is a shortage of good, real restaurants on the Atherton Tablelands and I am happy to include this one in my re-visit list.I thought it was good of the restaurant to give meaningful work experience to a local student and I noticed that this was a real training experience for the student whereby the staff took time to demonstrate how things are done. It was not an exploitative opportunity as seen at some establishments.
Our third visit in 14 months and the standard remains up there with the best. This a la carte restaurant is attached to the Malanda Lodge Motel and run by husband and wife team Peter and Robyn. They have set their standard a cut above the average for this rural area with food and ambience just right for that special night out. It has an open log fire and appropriate to sit at clothed tables and place mats rather than bare table tops which seems to be the norm these days. Our special night was a wedding anniversary and it was just right. Service was attentive without being over the top and the food was superb. My wife's seafood platter as entrée was more than ample for a main course and had all the expected seafood specialties and beautifully presented. My mains was lamb chops with vegetables. It came with seven (yes 7) different vegetables on a side plate as well as on the main plate. Meat perfectly cooked and with appropriate gravy and sauce accompanying the dish.Sadly we couldn't fit dessert in!
It was my wife's birthday. Tuesday night on the Atherton Tablelands is a very OFF NIGHT if you are wanting a nice meal. Tried the Country Breeze and were very pleasantly surprised.A lovely log fire on a cold night, impeccable service and a comprehensive menu. The food itself was fantastic, Well prepared and presented. Definitely not PUB GRUB- in fact way up there with the best.Prices were quite reasonable and for that Special Night it was just what we wanted. There were only three tables occupied and the only thing lacking was a little unobtrusive background music. We are locals and will be back.
Great fresh seafood, very hard to go past, kept going back for more oysters and prawns and Anne enjoyed the good selection of Christmas fare, very civilised
A fairly simple looking place with friendly staffNot the most authentic Thai I've tasted but it wasn't bad food.
