Popiah Ta Chong - Malacca

Pls order 2 days advance before.Quite big portion with fry pork lard inside. So crispyand taste good. MUST TRY FOOR IN MELAKA.

Very nice popiah. 1st time eating such popiah with pork lard. No need to pre-order in advance like other had mentioned, when I bought it back in Dec 2022. Probably, I was lucky then. However, did not manage to get any today, as all were sold out by 11:45am. I guess it depends on luck whether they were able to offer any for on-the-spot sales without making pre-order.

It’s sooooo goooood!! The skin is soft, chewy and light qq, you can taste that it’s freshly made everyday. The turnip filling is sooo fragrant with very good dark and light sauce that’s being used. The highlight is really their fried pork lard! It’s soooo crunchy, soooo fragrant. When you bite into every mouth, it wows you!! N it’s not oily!! The owner makes them one by one to ensure quality is in each of them. One is nv enough! Make sure you buy 2 for yourself! The best popiah in Singapore and Malaysia!!

One of the best popiahs in Melaka that I've tried. This popiah was perfectly done. Kept it for 1+ hour before tucking in, it was not soggy and you could still taste each ingredient's flavour (some other popiahs would have every flavour blended by then). The skin was more on the chewy side, the eggs are tasty and the pork lard crisps we're still crispy and not oily at all. Not difficult to find parking (was there at 1pm) and they had a big red sign so shouldn't be difficult to spot the small shop front. There were 4-5 people waiting for their orders but the preparations were efficient. Strongly recommend to try if you haven't!
