The upcountry farmers market has a variety of fresh local produce, local products, and local food. I love driving upcountry to Kula on Saturday mornings to buy all my favorite goodies. My first stop is always the Maui Cones booth because it tends to get very busy, because it's that good, and is everyone else's favorite as well. My two must haves favorites are the mochiko cone and ahi poke bowl. Next stop, empanadas. Mmmm so fresh, and many different flavors to choose from. They also have a selection of various sauces to choose from. Next stop, on the corner of the next aisle, is a very friendly man with glasses (I really should ask him for his name). He has homemade watermelon juice, assorted fresh pastries, bread, and much more goodies. My niece loves his homemade pop tarts made with his fresh homemade strawberry jam and my husband likes his foccacia pizza. As for me, my favorite from his booth is his homemade maple bacon, furikake twists. Furikake is a Japanese seasoning that consists of bits of toasted nori (seaweed) and sesame seeds, it's slightly salty, giving this pastry that perfect sweet and salty ratio that compliments each other perfectly. All the food vendors are very scrumptious and there is so much to choose from. (Korean cuisine, vegan miso ramen, Thai cuisine, organic food, acai bowls, vegan desserts, fresh coconut drinks, fresh organic juices, fresh kombocha juice, the list goes on and on Many other vendors sell a variety of items including fresh produce, fish, alpaca fur products, hand-made jewelries, flowers, etc.My last stop is at the flower lady's booth. (I really should ask her for her name too She has an assortment of beautiful flower arrangements and hakus (flower headbands). I always buy a bouquet of flowers to give to someone special to show them how much I appreciate them. ? (Usually for my sister because I know how much she loves her flowers
Great fruit, veggies, plants, tonics (lots of these) doodads and, of course local eats. be sure to get seed bread from the front entrance to the market... a little pricey but well worth the cost... toast for best flavor... excellent with mac butter or almond butter. Wheat free cookies are a bit disappointing: muffins delicious.
Large outdoor farmers market with a wide variety of vendors. Great selection of fresh local produce, food, beverages and hand crafted items.
Seriously, a great farmers market, with two wonderful asides. Next to great food trucks and a brand new Mahalo Ale Works brewery
