My legs were touching another person and it was kid of gross having our legs stick together. A bus would be better and more comfortable for easier seating access and not touching stranger.
I booked a tour online and was told my card would be charged the day of the tour. Great! I thought. The night before the tour, at 7:15, I received a call from the owner saying due to COVID-19 they weren't doing the tour in Kihei, but were doing the one in LaHaina, with some changes, and she would send me a list of where they would have taken us and we could do it on our own. I called her back to confirm her message and was only able to leave a voice mail. She never called back. She never sent the list. And if they aren't doing tours due to COVID-19, which everytelse is up and running, How or why are they able to do the tour in LaHaina where it is much more crowded?
Host stood us up. We showed up at the agreed meeting place at the prescribed time. I called the host 10 minutes after the agreed upon time. She called me back 15 minutes later and said she never got notification we had booked. Find that hard to believe given that I got an email confirm. Really disappointing because we planned our whole day around the tour. Avoid if you value your limited time in Maui.
We have never done a food tour before, so I am not an expert on these things. What I can tell you is that it was time well spent. Sharon is a great host and does her best to make sure you enjoy yourself, learn about the area, and get to try samples of food from the local shops. It was a very nice way to spend a morning strolling, eating, and learning.
I have been on food tours in several major cities where you get generous portions, get to sample a variety of great food, and learn history about the area along the way. I don't consider sampling fudge and pineapple part of a food tour because these items are free to anyone strolling through Lahaina. Passing around sheets of paper with historical facts on them also does not replace a good tour guide providing interesting facts about the area. If you are familiar with food tours, do ont waste your money on this one. The tour guide Sharon is also the owner. The people of Maui work hard and usually have more than one job, but Sharon needs to find a different profession.
