Unfortunately, the flavors were lacking in this restaurant. It needed a bit of cayenne, citrus, salt, pepper, more mayo (or a hint of Dijon, or even some lobster paste). There was only a small amount of lobster meat (1/2 cup in a full bun) for $15, and the bun was dry. There were no chips or napkins included. On the positive side, the lobster meat was fresh. Overall, it's a great concept but could use some improvements.
My husband, 10 year old daughter and I went to the Fresh Air Festival in Bridgewater and each sampled Lobster Jo's. We had the plain mayo on a hot dog bun. My daughter is particular about her food and she ate the whole roll which tells me she loved it.There was plenty of fresh lobster, the bun even though a hot bun was fresh and the service from all staff was awesome! Very friendly and very fast! Three thumbs up from us!
After reading some of the reviews from self-professed foodies about Lobster Jo's I have to admit I wasn't expecting much. Being from the South shore of Nova Scotia I know first hand the only major competition for lobster rolls are two fast food joints that skimp on the lobster by adding fillers like celery and lettuce. Not so with Lobster Jo's. The proprietor doesn't rely on those or other things but let's the lobster (and your chosen flavour of mayo) speak for itself. And speak it does! Loud and clear! A bounty of obviously freshly cooked lobster in your bun of choice. Accompanied by kettle chips and a wedge of lemon to use to suit your tastes at $15 this is a tremendous bargain and the service is second to none. I've worked with a number of restauranteurs in my career and can tell you based on the quantity of lobster you get in this roll you are enjoying a $20-24 entree at any sit down establishment.
I was reluctant to buy sea food from a food truck, but we were starved and in a hurry, so we decided to take a chance. I am so glad we did! The truck was parked in front of the local craft brewery when we stopped, but we found it parked on the outskirts of town another day ( yes, we stopped again!). We had lobster rolls both times and they were awesome. Fresh bread, fresh lobster, and a great selection of flavored mayo. The truck and food prep area is clean and not scary like some food trucks. So if you see the truck around town, don't hesitate to stop for an amazing lobster roll.
