Hickory Corral - Magnolia

We had a pleasant dining experience. I recommend trying the chicken fried steak, which is their signature dish. I opted for the small plate, and it was more than enough, even though I was extremely hungry. As you can see in the photos, my son ordered the pulled pork sandwich and finished it in no time. I gave them three stars because my husband found the fried catfish he ordered to taste like it might have been frozen rather than fresh. He still enjoyed it, but he felt that, considering how readily available fresh fish is in our area, they should opt for fresh instead.

My mom, daughter and myself came here yesterday. It was fantastic! I talked to the owner and made sure he knew we enjoyed his place. It was my second time there. I'll be making a third visit soon!

My meal was decent, but I also ordered a to-go meal for my husband that turned out to be disappointing. I had been promised a leg quarter of chicken, but when I opened the box at home, I found a breast and a wing instead. Since I live in College Station and this restaurant is in Magnolia, I couldn't return the food. I've learned my lesson: always check the contents of the box before leaving Hickory Corral.

A group of us rode our Harleys to this restaurant, and while I had been here before, it had been about three years. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the restaurant was clean and well-organized. As for the food—let's just say a picture is worth a thousand words. I had beef ribs, potato salad, and baked beans. The ribs were fantastic—very tender and juicy, and they tasted great even without the sauce, although the sauce was delicious too. The potato salad was perfect, and the beans were tasty. The portion was more than enough for two people to share.

Always a wonderful experience. This place serves the best roasted chicken steak I've ever had!
