The Blue House - Madrid

I want to begin by saying that I absolutely love the food and the atmosphere at this restaurant. However, I was very disappointed with the level of service I experienced during my visit. I was part of a group of three, and our bill was around $200, but the server did not consistently check on us. When we were packing our leftovers and I was waiting to ask about dessert, the server abruptly informed us that we needed to leave to make room for another table. I understand that the restaurant is small, but that doesn’t justify the lack of a dessert offer or a more polite request for us to vacate.

My wife and I have enjoyed wonderfully delicious brunches and dinners at the Blue House on different occasions. The menu is always evolving, featuring fresh and exciting new options. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming; I can't recall any other restaurant with such a sense of enthusiasm and camaraderie among the staff. The owners took the time to chat with us and made us feel like friends, leaving a lasting impression that makes us eager to return soon and often.

I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a delightful dining experience along with excellent food. We will definitely be returning. The only area for improvement I noticed was the dessert. I ordered a chocolate cake that I found quite rich and overly sweet for my taste—it could have used a scoop of vanilla ice cream to balance it out. I did try some of their homemade maple walnut ice cream with the cake, but that was also on the sweeter side. We ended up taking the cake home and paired it with vanilla ice cream, which made for a perfect balance. I personally like to manage the sweetness in desserts at home, so it was simply more than I’m accustomed to.

Incredible cuisine to satiate anyone’s palate. From the specialty cocktails, to the Mezze Platter, to the lamb, locally sourced foods are prepared in the most pleasing ways. Portion sizes let no one go away hungry. This is a must-experience restaurant; a one-of-a-kind gem in the North Country. 3-18-23 my wife and I enjoyed dinner at the blue house this evening. Fabulous. An absolute jem in Madrid ny. I had the beet salad and wife had the fresh pretzel to start. Wifey had the burger and I had salmon. Everything was fantastic. Alicia was an awesome hostess who really enjoyed serving and conversing with us. Upon exiting we talked with her husband Josh. A very personable friendly chef who truly enjoys serving his guests and who is an absolute genius at food pairing and flavor selections. We love it and will return. Bruce and Amanda.
