When you visit a foreign country it is great to have help on how to enjoy yourself. Our daughter and her family suggested this restaurant, and so after a morning of discovery which covered miles and miles....including Parque Retiro we crossed the street and had a wonderful meal waited on by an excellent server. Billed as a Restaurante Italiano it missed the word Wonderful! Delicious pasta, wine, coffee and dessert. We were extremely happy with the service we want to return. Actually I want to go back there in two days time ...but this is trip of discovery so it is onward we go. Still we will be back, and soon. The restaurant is across the street from the Parque perfect!
We had a great lunch at Arrivederci Roma, for an authentic Italian lunch. Starters were not the usual for Madrid Italian restaurants, we had burrata with small tomatoes and rucola and eggplat wrapped with provolone cheese and prosciutto cotto. Our main dishes were pasta's: cartoccio and arrabbiata. Cartoccio is a cooking technique that uses foil paper, excellent for pasta with seafood, delicious. Arrabbiata, was tasty and spicy as it should be. As dessert we ordered tiramisu, unfortunately it had not been let enough in the fridge so a bit liquid...sur parisino mis take. We will come back and highly recommend Arrivedrci Roma for an authentic Italian cusine in Madrid.
It takes some courage to be an Italian restaurant in Madrid and not serve pizza, but these guys manage not only to pull the trick, but also to charm the whole neighbourhood. The dishes are very well cooked and well served. Not cheap, but definitely worth the money. You can find some more details and photos in my blog here: [hidden link]
Just got back from this wonderfuly unpretencious restaurant ten minuset by foot from my apartment. It is stil truffle season and we therefore shared a Ravioli with truffle and then for main course one pepper steak and one steak with Cognac and mustard sauce. Both medium done. The Ravioli was cooked to perfection and the Truffle added that extra taste. The steaks were the most tender I can remember having ever had. For dessert we went for the Cannolo Siciliano, absolutely worth while. The Espresso was excellent as well as the complimentary Grappa and Limoncello. We have after sixteen months finally found our local in Madrid!
