The weary traveller has always had good food and live music! The crowd and staff has always been very friendly and they have a wall of books and games to choose from, if you’re hoping to stay awhile. The weary has an almost spooky but cozy atmosphere that makes it unique in Madison

This place is pretty popular so there is a bit of wait for a table. Food was good. I really enjoyed that atmosphere. Kind of a traditional IK pub vibe with notes of contemporary hipness

Busy Friday night and my first time here. The hostess was clearly busy and wanted to seat me at the bar (just one person so rightfully so), but I wanted a table. She was very kind to oblige despite the place being packed. I had the local fish fry--beer battered walleye or cod, I think--and it was great. Nice and crispy and a homemade tartar that wasn't overly sour or sweet. I had my first brandy old fashioned since moving to WI, and I have to say it was great! Well made! And didn't skimp on the booze. Though crowded, the dim low-light atmosphere, eclectic style, and great classic tunes made me feel at ease (not a big crowded spot fan). My waitress was attentive and humored my probably-dumb questions. I will be back! I think I found a favorite spot to come back to.
