We went with a group of 5 for dinner on a Saturday night. We had a reservation through Open Table and we were greeted promptly by the friendly host. Our table was ready and our cocktails were good. Our server seemed a bit off, sort of brusque and annoyed with us but she may have had too many tables for much of our stay. The food was good excellent Brussels sprouts small plate, I had the pasta with vegetables and chicken (very good but not remarkable and my husband had the roasted chicken (he said it was actually very excellent. . We will return to the Tin Fox again!
The Thursday night date special at The Tin Fox is phenomenal! $45 total for an appetizer, bottle of win, two entrees and a dessert. Because it’s so inexpensive, I was expecting the food to be subpar- I was so wrong! This was one of the better meals I’ve had at a restaurant. I loved the Cabernet Sauvignon the meal came with, and thought both the roasted chicken and the bed of vegetables it came on were outstanding. Additionally, being gluten-free, I was initially worried about not being provided with options- however, all of the appetizers, entrees, and two of the dessert options were gluten-free (and still tasted so good! . This was the perfect meal and atmosphere for our anniversary celebration. Thanks Tin Fox- we will definitely be back to celebrate more special occasions!
8/3/19. Very disappointing. We were a table of seven. Three of us ordered the pasta. 10 minutes later, the wait person apologized and said they ran out and only two portions were available. I said no problem, I would have the tofu bowl $15)instead. The portion size of this item was exceptionally small, approximately 1 cup of soupy noodles with 5 pieces of tofu in a wide, shallow bowl. Very poor value and not bad-tasting, just not good. We had 2 orders of the fried cheese curds to share before our meals. Our wait person brought them out. The curds have maple syrup on them and needed to be eaten with forks, but we were given no appetizer plates. I asked for plates and our wait person told us she would get them, but only after she took everyone’s order and removed all of the menus from the tables. What was that about? Appetizers plates should ALWAYS come out before or at the same time as the appetizer. Furthermore, the curds were not hot by the time we received the plates and I was annoyed. We were all visiting from out of state and we dined at local restaurants for all 5 nights while there. The Tin Fox was the only disappointment and I suspect the locals may feel the same way, as there was almost no one there on a Saturday night. We had great food and service at Lucille and Samba Brazilian Steakhouse, to name a couple.
ONLY MADISON RESTAURANT TO OFFER GF (GLUTEN FREE) CHEESE CURDS!!!!!!!! I don't really need to say more than that.
