Potbelly Sandwich Shop - Madison

I was shopping with a friend we talked about our favorite sandwiches. I told her nothing beats a BLT with an avocado. Guess what was special? It was a sign. The bacon is nicely cut and it is perfectly cooked! I love it!

The sandwiches (tuna and wreck) are both really good. It's a bit expensive for a sandwich place. For five years in Louisiana it was nice to see Zapp's potato chips somewhere. The soda fountain had no white sodas (Sprite, Sierra Mist, etc.) and they had no unsweet tea option. I'd go back, the staff was super friendly for our first visit.

Subpar experience. It seemed that they were our of half of the ingredients. They did not have turkey, which is a common ingredient on many subs. It was clear they were short staffed, but our group arrived at the beginning of the lunch rush and it just seemed to take forever. Sandwiches were piling up and getting cold, because one worker was starting the sandwiches as fast as he could while the other tried to handle payments, there was no one in the middle to actually finish the sandwiches so they just sat there. It seems like it could be a good shop, but needs better management and staffing levels.

The guys working in the make line were friendly and super helpful, inviting atmosphere. The quality of the ingredients and the passive aggressive girl who rang up the order on the other hand was enough to spoil the meal. Brown avocado, wilted spinach, ice cold/watery hummus on a semi warm bun. Overall a terrible dining experience for an already low expectation of service. Maybe next time you insult your customers or exchange dirty looks with myself and fellow employees you should wait till you're in back and not in front of the person your serving. Aside from her sour personality her gut hanging out from under her shirt was enough to ruin my appetite. I'd consider my one star review well over generous

Best sandwich I've never been homemade. Flavorful, warm and very good. Mac and cheese were even better. Cheesy Goodness made even better with the (free! addition of bacon and mushrooms. Very recommended!
