African chicken is a probably the most famous Macanese dish and something well worth trying during trips to Macau. When I'm in the mood, Henri's is the first place that comes to mind, hence why we have continued to dine here over the years. A recent visit rewarded us with another very good serving. The chicken wasn't as plump as it has been in the past and the sauce tasted a degree or two less sophisticated than it normally has. Yet still, it was a delicious dish and we finished our meal satisfied. Equally worth note however, on this occasion, we didn't care as much for the Pastéis de Bacalhau (cod cakes) as we have in the past. The cakes where prepared well but tasted too salty and the cod flakes were very dry. We'll probably take a pass on this starter next time we return. Note: Henri's Galley is somewhat isolated from the main Historic City Centre area, being located on along Ave. de Republica along the shore of Sai Van Lake, facing the Macau Towers. They are open from around 12pm until 10pm daily. We've usually been able to walk-in for lunches here even on busy holiday weekends. However, best to call ahead for reservations if you plan to dine at peak dinner times.
This is the best African chicken in the world. No bar. When you come next to the African chicken, the shells are amazing, the filled crab shell is amazing and the pigeon is also excellent! Very recommended! The owner Raymond is also very friendly and hospitable.
Friendly service and really nice Macanese food. African chicken is their must try dish.
This is a sweet little restaurant under the sea, opened in 1976. We had the huge spicy Prawn and her signature African Chicken and both were really delicious. I couldn't decide what was better. A trip to Macau is worth eating here.
