Pimprenelle - Lyon

Super cozy place with the most delicious carrot cake I've ever tasted in my 51 years! It was super light, barely sweet and apparently prepared by a ́top cook’! Large selection of tea. An incredible experience!

On a Monday morning it was more difficult than I thought it was to find breakfast that was much bigger than just a coffee and pastries, but Pimprenelle was worth the trip from my hotel in the confluence! The baked egg was new to me... and a little strange, but in general everything was simple and yet delicious and filling. The staff was very friendly and they had an English menu. I wish I had come to Brunch this weekend.

We only came for a coffee desert on a Sunday, they were very busy with the tail end of Sunday Brunch, but they still housed us. Almost full. It seemed an owner-running place (usually better) extremely popular with young office... type workers; many challenging young ladies. If you like to make many delicious pastries home made cake, this is the place. Nice for a treat. Tiramisu was very good. Not expensive

We arrived in Lyon at 7:45 am on a Saturday morning. It was a cold sunny day and we were longing for breakfast. Our research on Google indicated that many places only opened at 9:00 am. So my wife picked Pimprenelle, opening at 8:00. And...it was a great pick! Pimprenelle lies in downtown Lyon, not far from rue de la république. The place is cosy with a vintage feel. My wife took the set breakfast that came with fruit juice, a hot drink, pastries, bread... I had a tea with the Pralin Brioche. A must try! A huge slice of delicious old style brioche baked with pralines. They do not bake it by themselves but by it from a Lyon artist baker! Simply divine... The bread is also fresh and delicious and you can accommodate it with a selection of bio jams displayed on each table. We really loved Pimprenelle and will definitely visit again on our next trip to Lyon!

I came in with two friends, and for 17€ each, we all got two drinks, a slice of cake, a large pastry, a poached egg with toast, bacon, cheese, and a huge supply of breads and jams. Not only was the food plentiful, but it...was all delicious and left us wanting to return the next day. I rarely write reviews, but I had to make an exception here. I can not recommend this place enough!
