Prologue: I am an Indian. I dined at this restaurant because of the tripadvisor sticker pasted on its door: It dosent deserve the accolade, at least in my opinion. Menu: Nothing special, usual Indian items perfected for european taste buds but good enough to choose and fulfill your Indian food craving if you are new to our food. Service: Excellent; infact I feel bad to write a review like this. Food: 1. Tandoori chicken: it didn't smell fresh and right. Missing the delicate smoky tandoor flavor. 2. Cheese naan: Very good, no complaints. 3. Madras chicken curry: There was nothing Madras (now Chennai) in it; standard curry but good enough as an accompaniment for rice and naan. 4. Dessert: Not up to the mark. Gulab jamun was hard inside meaning either something went wrong or not soaked enough in sugar syrup. Halwas were rough and hard. Overall, a decent place to dine with good interior and excellent service.
Stumbled upon this restaurant while discovering the old city of Lyon Service Can't believe how friendly the staff are! Service was at the right pace, not too fast and not too slow (we ate in other restaurants in Lyon and felt like speed was of the essence, but not this one) Food I love Indian food and this restaurant's food was great The mixed starter was delicious and huge Mains were as spicy as we asked for (spicy and very spicy) The food was so good we asked for a doggy bag and asked for another mains and nan to go Our only minor mistake was to go for a carafe of the incredibly cheap house red (a little thin and tasteless). Once we'd finish the carafe we purchased a very reasonable Côtes du Rhône, which was very good) Shame this restaurant is not closer to home
This restaurant is right in the Heart of Vieux Lyon , the old center of the city in a pedestrian street. They do have some seating outside, which was very delightful for us on a hot summer evening? The welcome and service was excellent, done by a lady and a young man, who were both very much caring for our wishes and super polite. The lassis were very night and refreshing and both, entrée maindish were lovely. Sadly we were hardly hungry, so we could not finish it all, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Desert was a mango sorbet which only just filled the gaps in the stomach and was delightful. The prices are very reasonable, the choice for vegetarians is very good, even though surprisingly small for an Indian restaurant, as vegetarian is the Indian tradition, but they have adapted to the local demands I guess. Spices were also used in a way that the European gum can well handle. We will definitely be back.
Really good Indian with great service (the waiter spoke excellent English by the way) sat in a lovely vibrant square. The garlic naan was really garlicky, the rice was nice, the dahl had a wonderful consistency and great flavour. The lamb vindaloo was super hot and was also tikka'd but not dry it even gave me the sweats (not attractive, but highly unusual for France). We also had the chicken karahi which was a speciality dish and didn't disappoint. A very decent curry in nice surroundings. Worth a visit! Add 4 beers and the bill was €78. Very happy.
