I had street-style tacos and a grilled fish taco. Both were good and also was just how I like it, a medium heat and all the tastes of the ingredients came through as if it was fresh. My wife had a chicken breast with grilled peppers and onions. Both came with sides of refried beans and rice. The staff was friendly and prompt and everything was good. A nice place to stop that was far better than fast food in a more inviting atmosphere.
Good food and service. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
The food here is great. They are limited on large party seating, but try to accommodate. They focus more on their food than interior design. The staff is generally really friendly, but when they are super busy, some start falling under the pressure. They don't bring refills and chops and salsa as often they should when busy.. The staff is small. On the last visit, they were running out of tea and couldn't offer refills. They were out of a few other items as well. Their drinks are good too. The michalada they make is awesome, confirmed by several. The chicken taco salad and tamales are really good. I have eaten here often and never left hungry. The owners are friendly and happy to great you. Wheelchair accessibility: They do have handicap parking and entry.
Asked for refried beans with lots of cheese-got maybe a teaspoon of cheese. This is not Chile Verde.. Chili Verde is stewed in a sauce made from scratch. This is some shredded beef with green sauce out of a can poured on top. Pretty sure the salsa came out of a can too Good thing I was hungry and didn’t feel like the argument . If you don’t know good Mexican food, it’s passable, but I come from California-better Mexican there than Mexico! Asked for tortillas (shouldn’t have to ask), and the waiter accidentally brought me a soft taco wrapped in aluminum foil. I had already opened it so I told him he could leave it because I would probably eat it anyway and of course, you put it on my check and charged me for it. I had asked for some cheese on my refrieds, which is normally how it’s served, but when the check showed up, she actually had the balls to charge me .15 for the teaspoon of cheese. This place is a joke. They don’t know how to make good Mexican food and they don’t know how to give good service to customers.
We enjoyed an incredible chicken taco salad with freshly made guacamole! Everything about our salad was amazing; generous lunch portion, freshly made tasty chicken, fresh lettuce, scrumptious salsa and fresh taco bowl! Friendly staff very considerate. We highly recommend Monterrey Mexican! Best of all was an amazing price! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
