The Great Room - Lynchburg

An interesting place with a lot of potential! a couple of things: we had a waiting person who was not very welcoming, and hovered while I filled her tip amount (that was quite unpleasant). eating was usually quite good, but even for a salt lover like me the cadry had so much salt in a tomato sauce, it was unpleasant. I scratched the salt as I could, and let the waitress know, but she offered nothing free or reduced the price of the teller on the last bill. also the toilets for the restaurant are not marked what is strange and not good, even outside. it seems like this place could be a real hit, but the staff, including the cook, needs improvement.

I have no idea how this place got 4 stars!! Well I give this place a 2 stars for the fact the inside was nice and staff was very helpful! Also my family enjoyed there steak and fries and they enjoyed their meal. The food was served in a timely matter and appearance looked great! Now the bad! First pricing does match portion sizes! 7.95 for salad with lettuce and dressing is extremely high and amount of lettuce was very small! I had the cod and it was so salty I could not eat it! I basically ate the side item and that was it! I went to Sheetz to eat something for supper! As I write this review I still taste the salt in my mouth! STAY away from the cod unless you love pure salt, because I could not even tell it was a piece of fish! As a fellow Lynchburger I will not return

Listen, I don't like to give a bad review but this I can't let go. I give this place 2 stars only because the setting was nice, furniture was nice and everything was clean. We went for a Sunday brunch and it was terrible. My first clue should have been no one was in there. Including employees. When we found a waitress she couldn't explain what they had, and we got 2 different prices from 2 different waitresses. The selection was poor, food was cold. No where worth the $16 per person. I don't recommend. I hope they get better.

Beware of the late menu at 9pm. Showed up at 8pm never got the champagne we ordered. Now it's 9:30 when I went to the bar to ask what was up. They said we had to order off the limited late menu. WTH? Leaving. Notice our empty drinks. Worst service in Lynchburg!!! Stay away.

I have had dinner at the Great Room and had a wonderful experience. But whatever you do, do not go to the Sunday Brunch. Small selection and sub-par food. I got a piece of cheesecake that was still frozen when I took a bite of it. When I first walked into the buffet room, there weren't even plates to serve myself with. I had to flag down one of their elusive servers just to find a plate. Then I wanted to get soup but there weren't any ladles in the bowls. I gave up at this point. Go anywhere but here! Not worth the $17.
