D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! That's probably exactly what it sounded like someone was sitting close. everything was soouou good. the people pour from my engaged, who I actually giggle, and who asked, she just ate everything!? she owes you something, but that's how we order so that we share, and in the regular swap plates. we all enjoyed a big laugh and talk about it, and about all amazing eating after. we had the lobster of the huh (which I could steal from his plate) with the cognac cream sauce that is for dying! I ordered the special for the evening, braided pork with black truffles, so much we had it for a midnight snack later in our room, so it looked like I didn't eat my own food! the wine selection was also great. our server was fantastic. the setting is simply perfect. I wanted to hear the old music all night. it was really the perfect, intimate dinner for the surprise trip he had planned in the craddock terry. the whole thing is unbelievable!

We were thrilled by shoemakers in the city of lynchburg! the atmosphere was calm and soothing....loved the jazz in the background play! our server was so helpful and friendly! the food was excellent! the salmon was cooked to perfection, and our adult son really enjoyed his steak with lobster ravioli. we never felt hurried. desserts were also delicious.

We’re baaaack! For every single special occasion in our family, we unanimously choose Shoemakers for dinner. Celebrating my daughters 21st birthday, and my sisters birthday we headed there tonight. We were looking forward to seeing how the new chef is doing. Well, he’s doing VERY well!! Tonight we all ordered She Crab Soup. Don’t miss that part of the meal, please. Just don’t. It’s a highlight and will tempt you to tip the bowl just a little bit, to scrape the final 1/4 spoon up! Packed with tender crab, this rich creamy base soup makes for an experience that dreams are made of. And oh, the presentation is not only perfection, the little buttery crostini on top are delectable. Both my sister and daughter enjoyed the filet mignon, one ordered it with whipped potatoes and one with {out of this world} Brussels sprouts. Order these Brussels sprouts, even if you don’t like them. You’ll become a fan, I promise. I had the Chilean Sea Bass. Delicious and beautifully plated. Served with crab risotto and sautéed spinach. We had to pass on dessert because we were stuffed, but the offerings on the menu sounded delicious. Orange Crème Brûlée, I’m coming for ya next time!! Our server was Marissa was LOVELY. She was attentive, helpful in us making decisions while ordering, and efficient. The manager came around to check on us to make sure everything was perfect. We highly recommend Shoemakers American Grille for a fabulous dinner experience. The atmosphere, staff and food simply can’t be beat. Reservations highly recommended.

My husband and I were in Lynchburg visiting for a work expedition 5/18/2022. We had dinner reservations with a friend and business associate at The Shoemaker. We were greeted at hostess stand at The shoemaker and seated at our table. Our waiter came over,, I had questions on the menu. I asked if the crab cake was maryland blue crab. A question I always ask. The waited appeared annoyed but advised no. We three were talking enjoying the evening. What happened next was a complete shock. We ordered our dinner; crab cakes. Surf and turf etc. We proceeded to order a bottle of wine. And the waiter told us he wasn’t going to serve us alcohol because we had had too much to drink. What?!?! I had zero to drink. My husband and friend had had 2 drinks 1/2 hour prior to arriving at the restaurant but was in no way intoxicated or even appeared to be. We were appalled. We asked to speak to the manager who was at a loss for words.. then the culinary director came out and asked how he could make things better. At that point we advised we weren’t going to eat there and left. We felt insulted, our friend that made the reservation was embarrassed. We went to a roof top restaurant within walking distance ordered a bottle of wine and dinner. We couldn’t stop talking about what had just happened. How was that possible. What did any of us say or do to make the waiter suggest we had too much to drink?? I can tell you. We were laughing and joking. We weren’t loud we were happy to be there. I have never nor my husband or our friend been told that. We incidentally were staying at their hotel. Our friend and his company brings so much business to that hotel and restaurant.. they have now lost all of their business.

Amazing facility and very friendly staff. room is spacious, especially the bathroom. despite the many levels, it is easy to move.
