I had heard a lot of positive reviews about Market at Main in Lynchburg, so I decided to try the Boonsboro location with a friend. She really enjoyed her meal, but unfortunately, I was disappointed with mine, especially given the higher price. I ordered the salmon burger with fries, but the fries were greasy, unsalted, dark brown, and overcooked. The salmon patty lacked flavor and was also slightly overcooked. To top it off, the waitress was quite inattentive; despite being the only diners there, she spent more time chatting with her coworkers in the kitchen. Although the dining area is charming, I don’t think I’ll be returning.
We left without placing an order. After being seated right away, we waited over five minutes for menus. The restaurant had a medium crowd, with several empty tables, yet half of them were waiting for their food. Additional customers arrived about ten minutes after us, and when we noticed that their orders were being taken before ours, we decided to leave. We hadn’t placed any orders during our wait. Additionally, there was an unpleasant scent in the air, reminiscent of a strong fragrance. We overheard that there was a kitchen issue causing delays. This will not be a restaurant we return to in the future.
My wife’s biscuits and gravy were awesome. The sweet potato pancakes were the best I’ve ever had. I usually smother my pancakes in syrup, I didn’t use one drop. They were so moist and delicious it would have been criminal to change the flavor at all. And our server was very efficient and friendly. This is about 2 hours away from where we live but we’ve already decided it is worth the drive.
I've eaten here several times over the years and I keep hoping it'll get better. Alas, today was my last try. They have never been able to cook eggs. Every time I order them they are overdone. Over easy means runny yoke. Never happens. The potatoes were not cooked all the way through today which really added an extra bit of joy. Also, for some reason whoever was cooking used a ton of orange tinted seasoning that made its way into everything, including the gravy for the biscuits and gravy. Criminal.I ordered an extra order of toast and for whatever reason the cook decided to smash the big beautiful rye bread on the griddle, covering it in that orange seasoning, at which point it came out flatter than a pancake and condensed. That was fun because my eggs were so hard they had no yolk to sop up.The service is always decent, but my god if you're going to be a breakfast place, learn how to cook eggs, potatoes, toast.
