The Chicken Shack - Luverne

Great food if you have never been to the Chicken Shack you need to go. Best chicken ever!

On the way to Panama from Nashville you gotta stop here. It's a true staple with so much good home cooking, it would be a shame to miss. They open at 11am and have a daily lunch special. The fried chicken, fish, okra all perfect. And a good Ole sweet tea just tops out off with a strawberry milkshake. Call ahead if you don't want to wait. The pull up windows for to go orders is very convenient. Be quick and know what you want to order or you'll get some ugly looks! Vegetarian options: Many daily veggie options to choose

Food is pretty pricey and chicken on the bone is salty!!! Heard they marinate in salt water .... not sure how true that it. Tenders are legit the best. And the coleslaw is Love!!!!!! Burgers are pretty decent too. Just kinda small and outdated atmosphere.... but other than that .... it's good.

Old timey place with excellent fried chicken. A couple of the sides were just OK, but the potato salad was really good. Don’t get the mashed potatoes unless you likerehydrated potato flakes. Fried dough balls and smashed cold rolls come in every basket. Definitely worth the stop and relatively inexpensive. Again, great chicken!

While passing through Luverne decided to stop by. Parking lot was full and noticed they also have a walk up window for food to go. There were several people utiluzing the window also. Server was friendly. Ordered the hamburger steak with a couple of sides and tea. Noticed the facility including restrooms were very clean. That's a plus! In the front of the menu they boast Simply Southern had honored them with Best Fried Chicken in Alabama. It appeared they had homemade cakes and pies in refrigerator clear cooler..Give them a try!
