The Valley Cork - Luray

I am not from Virginia and loved to taste a sampler of local wines, paired with a cheese board. Very friendly and competent staff. Also really enjoyed the room itself, especially (what I thought was) a massive old pharmacist cabinet.

Much potential here. The wine: A well curated wine menu, served many of your popular Mainstays, with some beautiful treats hidden throughout. Staff are usually really good to get a wine that matches your range. You have a really nice selection of Virginia wines, although it would be cool to see that they get selection of less well-known producers. While I like an eclectic list of wines myself, I still find the selection very strong and well suited for the location. Service: Generally very good service and very friendly. It may sometimes be a bit slow so you ask when you receive your check (but you are always welcome to go and pay, but overall I have no complaints. I'm not sure who the respective server is, but there's a gentleman working here that's fantastic when it comes to recommending wines to try out. The atmosphere: warm still open. The room is in what used to be a hardware store, and you can say (in a good way! . A wall is dominated by beautiful shelves, and there are many seats. There is a cellar used for events. Food: This is the only area where I could improve the restaurant. I think I understand the direction they are going (casual food, easy food, nothing to do with your socks. I am sure that some changes in this regard will be made at a later point, and some of the food options are still great to order (the cookie fold is always great for me to order. and some of the fried snacks are good. All this is said, I always enjoy coming to the cork for a glass or three of wine, and a welcoming atmosphere with friendly servers.

The selection of wines is absolutely massive! We typically stick to a Riesling or Chardonnay when we were at home, so this gave us a great opportunity to branch out. We enjoyed our charcuterie board and the sprouts with chocolate a great option for a lighter dessert. We made reservations before the time and had a large window table available for us as soon as we arrived. We definitely come back when we're back in Luray.

We had such a lovely evening. Called from the road, 2 hours out and they had a table waiting for us when we got there. Lovely wine, a flight of ciders for my husband who's not a wine drinker The charcuterie board was excellent. Can not recommend enough.
