Being a Brit, I am invariably disappointed when eating Chinese on the continent. Not this time! Great food, would happily eat here again. Although it was moderately expensive, the portions were generous. Staff were a little over worked, but always pleasant and efficient
After a long time, my wife and I went back to the restaurant Shang-Hai. In the meantime we had tested several China restaurants in Lübeck By the way, Shang-Hai is the oldest Chinese in Lübeck over 40 years ago. Luckily there is no buffet. We quickly found our favorite dish on the not overloaded and cost-effective map. No. 60 A delicious poultry soup was served as a greeting to the house. The main dish was decorative. The vegetables were fresh and bite-resistant. The sauce was loving and not too fat. The beef was fresh and not pretreated in a marinade. Even my desire to refine the dish with some pores was fulfilled. Finally, we were served a glass of plum wine. The restaurant is lovingly and modernly furnished On each table a real rose. The toilet is very clean. We prepare for the next visit with our friends. Five out of five stars. What's going on? Anke and Jost Gogowsky
Our favorite Chinese in Lübeck! The ambience in the restaurant is extremely modern and relaxing. Something different from most Chinese locals. The service is always very friendly and pleasantly reserved. Shang-Hai impresses above all with the exceptionally tasty dishes that are always freshly prepared. No trace of snacks. The slightly higher prices are therefore also justified. The shop is always pleasant and clean.
The Shanghai restaurant is centrally located in Lübeck, only separated by the narrow alley of Engelsgrube from the historical Schiffergesellschaft. While other Asian locals are magnificently decorated with Kitsch and thus convey a sense of cosiness, there is a modern, tactical ambience. The large front window front reinforces the cold impression against which the rich Suan La Tang soup worked well. Although we only eat four, the kitchen was not possible to bring the main dishes to the table at the same time. Despite the Rechauds, the dishes were not as hot as we wished. The poultry dishes were very fine and abundantly covered with vegetables. When buying seafood, the cook should have taken care of a uniform quality. The shrimps and mussels were very attractive on the table. A bit alienated me to find Pangasius on the map at our visit in November 2012. He comes from the Far East and has a seductive name. In view of the “insurmountable” breeding conditions, more demanding restaurants should avoid it. An earlier contribution was critically concerned with the contribution of the staff, we were kindly served and would visit the locals again, but without putting our expectations too high.
