I'm pretty sure reading some reviews mentioning some worthy steaks but the ribeye I ate that night was too salty beyond imaginable. It also gave me an upset stomach later that night while I was sleeping. SLEEPING! -0-;; My bf also mentioned during the meal how his asparagus was not cooked all the way then I noticed that the mac and cheese that I ordered as a side was a ill-looking brand that looked like it was bought from Wal-Mart. It was so dry. Nonetheless, a sad sight to see considering the fact of how much I love mac and cheese. While driving home after dinner, boyfriend told me that this place was ran by a bunch of hotel major tech students and I said oh... no wonder.. and we left for home without a word.
Price- Way too high Taste- Pretty good steak, but not everything came out on time and the food wasn't correct at all. Cleanliness- Terrible, the bathroom was torn apart and disgusting Staff Quality- TERRIBLE, the food came out cold and wrong
Grace was the best waitress I had in a long time! She asked if I was ok like 10 times! Awesome! The 14 oz sirloin with the loaded baked potato was so good! Key lime pie was yum! I would recommend this great local place, ask for Grace!
The 80s called, they want their restaurant back. We ordered the sampler platter off the appetizer menu everything straight from the bag in the freezer, served with a giant bowl of ranch, kale and orange slice. The fried zucchini was the best thing that came on that plate. The cheese sticks were interesting... they look like those sesame breadsticks you get at Sam's club in the tin can... we asked for some marinara for the mozz. Our server brought us a to go cup of COCKTAIL SAUCE. Straight up we just got ketchup and horseradish for our deep fried mozzarella breadstick concoction. We got the 20 oz steak for 2 for the meal. The steak was.... subpar. I understand it's a large cut so I wasnt expecting greatness, but that.. was disappointing. Bryan's sells the same steak for like $8. I just paid $38 for...? My boyfriend's side dish of mac cheese was straight from that blue box you get on sale 5 for $5. My sweet potato was decent but how can you screw up a sweet potato? Also, every plate came with kale and orange slices for the meal as well. Again... 2018... not 1980s... They could do so much with this place, and they could have the best food in town... if they just cared. Clearly they do not.
My family has eaten at the 50 Yard Line, since the original owners had the restaurant. Classy, well-run, and quality food was always served, and the wait staff was top notch! It was a restaurant where people would dress up to go eat. When it sold, the food quality declined. Ingredients in some of the dishes changed (not for the better, and the wait staff didn't dress as professionally. The 50 Yard Line lost the true touch of class it originally had. New owner(s) have purchased the 50 Yard Line, and the quality is better than it was with the 2nd owner. Little things I still miss from the original 50 Yd. Line: 1. the relish tray is ok, but it's now brought on a smaller plastic dish (looks cheap) 2. Onion soup recipe isn't as good 3. Salad-use real lettuce, not arugula 4. Blueberry muffin recipe has changed-please change it back 5. The steaks for 2 were tough! 6. The names for the dishes aren't clever like they use to be. Wait staff is dressing and acting more professionally, thank goodness! I'm hoping it will be the classy restaurant Lubbock once had.
