This restaurant is great on so many species. first, eating was nice and used local ingredients to prepare laotic dishes. there are marked veggie options and great drinks. but what is really amazing at this place is that it acts as a teaching restaurant for endangered youths of laos. it teaches them to cook, speak English and laotian, and other important skills. 94% of the profits go back to the community and I was really humble at this wonderful thing.
Lovely food, and very helpful, but staff a bit confused on their own ingredients. Separate vegetarian options are listed, and we requested the standard no fish sauce no egg etc. The green curry is listed as including egg tofu' which we'd never heard of. The waiter was kind enough enough to show us the tofu packaging which was a weird squeezy tube, with a drawing of a woman holding eggs on, so we assumed it wasn't safe. He left out the tofu and added extra veg instead. However, we had also ordered the crispy tofu which didn't mention it was made with egg tofu, but had a very creamy consistency. When we were back on WiFi we googled it and it was clear that the crispy tofu is made with egg tofu, and that egg tofu does contain egg. Aside from this confusion the rest of the food was good (smoky aubergine dip) and it's a great concept, training up disadvantaged children with working skills. Just not great for vegans.
These guys understood the no fish sauce' request which can be a challenge in Laos. Very nice meal tapas style
I was happy to support this place because of their participation in the training of disadvantaged youth. the service was mixed but I was very happy with eating. I had a veggie-tofu dish that was so delicious, and then if I thought I would not dessert at all in luang prabang, it turns out that it was a unique and very tasty vegan dessert option that I was so impressed: updated by the previous review on 2020-02-17
