Sons of Smoke has a strong local following and seems to be a family-run establishment, which is something I really appreciate. The smoked ribs, which are their signature dish, were excellent with a nice char and rich flavor. Unfortunately, the meat itself was quite dry and had a grainy texture that their sweet and spicy barbecue sauces couldn’t quite fix. I did enjoy the Friday special, the pork tenderloin sandwich, which was pounded thin and well-breaded, giving it both a satisfying crunch and chewiness. However, the rest of the food, while cooked properly, fell flat in terms of flavor. This included the green beans, onion rings, pulled pork, and baked potato, all of which could have benefited from a bit more seasoning. With just a little more flavor, Sons of Smoke could easily become one of the best barbecue spots around.
