The staff is usually friendly, however I encountered a rude member at the front desk when asking for late checkout. The motto of Marriott “It pays to book direct” was not felt at all especially at this situation. Moreover, I’m a silver elite with Marriott and despite that fact I was not given my chosen late check-out time which was 2 pm, so not a very late time. Also, I received a room on a lower floor, which also does not confirm that “it pays to book direct”. Anyways, it was a decent experience.
Water outage occurred when we were staying in. No notice was given until checking in. The hotel was gracious enough to provide a grand total of 2 porta potties for all the guests. The staff was uncourteous to put it lightly (understandably due to all the complaints).
Recently I stayed here and enjoyed my stay at the Westin Bonaventure. The rooms were clean and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and had a great sleep. The view from the room was awesome and saw the entire downtown LA area. The hotel is a bit further up the downtown area but its walking distance and its always nice outside to its all good. Pool area is very large with nice big pool and again all very clean. The fitness centre was one of my favourites. I got a great deal online for the room, so it was a very good value. Not only is this place big and cool looking with lots to do, but it has been part of many very cool movies, so that's awesome!! Highly recommend it.
Just checked into the hotel and was informed that the water will be off in the entire hotel tonight and they will try to have the water back on tomorrow morning. They gave us a letter stating that complimentary bottled water would be available from the front desk. When we called down to the front desk to request additional waters they told us only 2 bottles of water would be available despite us being a family of four staying in a suite (and having paid for extra persons charges . We were shocked but exhausted from traveling and gave up when the rude front desk person stated there was absolutely no way to get additional water. Furthermore, the person checking us in appears to despise their job and was deeply disaffected and spaced out during check-in. The hotel itself is aging and many areas are in disrepair. Avoid this hotel at all costs. The poor behavior of hotel personnel indicates serious staffing issues (and probably failures upstream at the leadership level that trickle down and being blindsided with the shutdown of a hotel 's water at check-in (meaning not able to flush toliets, use sinks, shower, brush teeth, etc. AND being denied more than 2 waters despite being a family of 4 people who paid extra person charges for 4....truly disgraceful.
Late review Drove in from Vegas 5/5/23 for a overnight stay and to visit the city sites. Hotel was clean and Customer service was good, especially the bartender in the lobby who was very freindly and gave great conversation. We had dinner at La Prime which was awesome and then drinks in BonaVista Lounge...Overall great experience. Kathleen E
