Oh wow oh wow, the food here is soooooo delicious. Got the Haitian spear ribs and the red snapper fish with collard greens, red beans and rice. Ohh those flavors were hitting every level of flavor. The service we received was amazing. She was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. And I loved the ambiance of the place. The art that was on the walls was beautiful and the place gave a cozy and intimate feel. 5 star and definitely recommend.
I gotta be honest, this place was disappointing. I was expecting really flavorful dishes (I ordered the Egyptian lamb and my partner ordered the Talapia), but the food was quite bland and the serving sizes were oddly small given the price point. Beyond that, the service felt unprofessional or poorly trained. Our main server could barely answer the couple questions I had about different dishes, and then the other server clearing our plates tried to remove our appetizer of plantains while there were still like five full pieces on the plate! It was very odd. Beyond that, they didn't come to fill our water once during the meal, which felt sort of important given the sodium levels of everything we ordered.Overall, we left feeling as though the message of the restaurant (which is really fantastic) overshadowed the less-than-memorable food. It's not a cheap meal, either, so overall quite a bummer.
Fantastic food. I almost don’t want to write a review because this chill gem deserves to have long waits and devoted fans, but was relatively empty Friday at lunchtime. Regardless of the quiet atmosphere, the classic dishes were superbly cooked and seasoned. Every month there’s a new cuisine highlighted and the Haitian plates did not disappoint—seafood risotto had so much flavor. When you also learn they donated 40% of their proceeds to helping refugees, why would you eat anywhere else?? Hope they stay in business for a long time because I can’t wait to come back!
