Apple Pan - Los Angeles

I only ate on the Apple Pan on Pico in Los Angeles tonight, and indeed the burgers and pommes were very good - not the best - but very good, but they will NIE see my George Washington again and here is the reason: A single patty ground hamburger, size not larger than the single at In Out Burger or a single at Wendys or McDonalds that only comes with salad, Pickles, Mayo! I added small frits for 2.20 and no drink, no cheese and nothing else – came to an inappropriate 9.30 with taxes, not including a tip for the Gruff service. After I left, I felt that I was really taken, or as my mother said, "You have some nerve!" These Apple Pan hamburgers and frits taste exactly the same and not better than those in In Out Burger throughout California and if you go there – the same exact single burgers and fries would cost you less than 3.50! Well, guys, please keep these other things in mind. Add a piece of cheese: 60 cents and a drink: 1.75 and you will pay there 12.00 for a thin fried burger, small frits and a drink. Still hungry – order your Apple Pie Slice: 5.00 a piece. Well, 5.00 is not bad for a nice piece with food of apples, but not the small 3-4 fork you give there. Now your bill is up to almost 18.00 with tax, and no tip. 20.00 for a person to have a complete Hamburg meal in this place: As my mother say again: “You have nerves!” But people – it gets worse – there are NO TOMATOES. (In out on 1.75 burger has one tomato or two. I ask the waiter who says, "Use the sauce." There are some places around for a very long time that regularly attract the locals who grew up there and went there with Dad, and now they take their children, but whose value is now reduced or not present. Apple Pan is one of them. Go somewhere else, unless you have a lot of money to burn or want to go away hungry - there is nothing strange about this place except as you paid 3x the price for a fast food hamburger and as they probably still laugh about you.

Amazing Burger! Saw the reviews and knew I had to try this place that lived up to his long reputation. Had the steak burger with cheese as it comes and taste was incredible. Perfect portion size and exactly what I was looking for.

Whenever we are in town we visit the Apple Pan. Boy are things different this time. You can walk up and order at a window! You can pay with a credit card! It’s all pick up and outdoor dining only. We love that it’s still here and that they are open. We will support them whenever we can. But, I sure hope some of the old things come back. We miss the wait staff, eating at the counter, drinking out of a paper cone cup etc. They are still one of the best burgers in town; we will be back.

This place is classic! I’m sad that it’s still closed for indoor dining, because the old school diner setting is such a vibe. They’ve done really well to convert the back into a really charming outdoor eating area though, so it was still a great time. Food was great as always, and all the employees were so nice.

Definitely the place to go for an old fashioned cheeseburger. the apple pan will never disappoint, one of my favorite burger spots in los angeles. i really miss the indoor seating which was previously available , the vibes were amazing.
