Lucille's Smokehouse Bbq - Long Beach

The menu features a diverse selection of BBQ dishes, which made me quite happy. It's great to see options like Southern fried chicken, gumbo, ribs, tri-tip, brisket, steak, and salads topped with BBQ meat, among other delicious offerings. I ordered the BBQ ribs, which were natural and absolutely delicious. The meal comes with two sides, and I chose creamy cheeses and macaroni and cheese. They accidentally gave me garlic potatoes instead of mac and cheese, but they generously compensated by serving my meal quickly since I had to hold onto the potatoes. It wasn’t a big deal, as the mac and cheese didn’t look too substantial anyway. However, the potatoes were tasty, and the ribs were indeed flavorful. The salads also looked enticing, topped with plenty of meat and onion rings. It seems that the restaurant is dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction. They achieve this with generous portions, fast service (my food arrived within about five minutes), and attention to detail. For example, they offer complimentary lollipops while you wait and use glasses for drinks. The food is slightly pricey, so it's best to bring along a good amount of cash. Overall, I’d rate this as a 4.5-star restaurant.

Lucille's is decent if you're craving BBQ, but it doesn't hold a candle to Johnny Reb's or Chicago For Ribs. The food is average at best; it seems like much of it is prepared in bulk ahead of time and just reheated when you order. On top of that, the wait for a table is outrageous—typically at least an hour.

This restaurant is located near Jonny Rebbs, Naples Ribs, and Lucille’s, making it a great option for rib lovers. It’s the original location of the chain and definitely the best. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is fun. The ribs are amazing—definitely a must-try! I recommend ordering one of the combo plates: the Back Porch, Lateral Veranda, or Frozen Veranda. They come with generous portions that are more than enough for one person to handle.
