A slice of the Lower East Side. Hip little high end diner on Bermondsey Street. I've been a few times for reasonable brunch standards (Eggs Benedict particularly toothsome), lazy weekend afternoons with the papers and well constructed side dishes supporting a bottle of wine or three. It's not a cheap option, and there are several contenders locally that I'd prefer for an evening meal (Zucca for one, just across the road) but it's a good relaxed option with friends.
Scarcity, as economics would entail, makes something valuable. In that regard, anything related to the early hours of the morning – from sunrises to brunches – should have their value in gold when it comes to me, considering my complete inability to partake in pre-11 am life. Brunches are actually one of my favorite activities out there – my obsession with egg based dishes knows no limits. I also find brunches to be rather classy and have this unique ability of making me feel as if life is worth living despite tube strikes, annoying people and dermatitis. What is on offer: Newly revamped Village East (as of Sep 2013) brings a new interior and menu but retains it’s cool vibe and ability to thoroughly satisfy your taste buds. Be sure to try the Longhorn beef bone marrow burger.
Flavor Vs Flavour: A night of Convinality at Village East Guest Feature by Sarah James: I was really excited to be asked to come to a night of Exploring English vs American wines; whilst I have tried a few English wines previously, my exposure to American wines has been limited, and my views possibly skewed by the film Sideways!
