The manager mentioned that they do not use the OpenTable booking system, even though my reservation was confirmed. They did not seem to care about the mix-up. The atmosphere was lacking, but the waiter provided excellent service.
Belgo in Bromley is a shadow the former glory of the brand. There was nothing specifically wrong with any of it, except that my fish main meal tasted of bacon and was very greasy, but yet it felt a bit like a canteen with service to match.
Upon arrival, a male waiter allocated us a table. However he never came back to us to take our order. Therefore had to flag another member of staff to take our order. The restaurant was not particularly busy at 5.30pm on a Thursday and we only order two mussel mains and a child's meal. After 40 minutes without any food, we asked the waiter (the same waiter that sat us down) about how long our food would arrive. He went to the kitchen then came out of the kitchen but did not come back to us. We then ask to waitress who served us and she informed us it would be another 5-10minutes. We complained that the male waiter completely ignored us from the time he sat us down to then finding out the length of time the food would take. We were extremely disgusted but the poor customer service and the extremely long wait for a 3 simple dishes in a quiet restaurant. Shockingly bad customer service
We were looking forward to a Saturday evening there to have some food and enjoy some nice beer....the food was good when it came although the food order was wrong and the drink orders were repeatedly wrong after waiting an age to place them. We sat at our table for 25 minutes to begin with before we were even approached for our first drinks order. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant which was cramped and we had other customers chairs banging in to the back of us and the staff for some reason seemed to only serve us from one side of the table meaning we had to pass plates along the table and when they reached across us, dropped cutlery in our laps. Worsed of all was the heat, looking around at the other red sweaty faces of other customers is wasn 't just us suffering, had it been more comfortable we would have stayed until closing to enjoy the beer. Also please get your staff to learn the menu, when asking for mash as a side they repeated back, yep ok ganache ...eeerm no thanks, no chocolate sauce with my bbq chicken thank you!!! All in all a shame, been nice to go there before but this really spoiled a birthday meal.
Amazing food, great atmosphere and discovering it actually led to our amazing Belgian beer collection, and a trip to Belgium! Best restaurant in Bromley at
