Szechwan Chinese Food - Lomita

We must visit this place quite frequently, as the staff treats us like royalty. In fact, nearly all of them stopped by to greet us at our table during our meal.

This is a fantastic spot for Dim Sum! The restaurant is quite spacious and offers several private dining rooms. There's also a large parking lot, which deserves a special mention (4 stars just for that). We visited specifically for the Dim Sum, but...

I was really hoping to enjoy this place, especially considering the recent closures of PV Palace and several other Chinese restaurants. However, this American Chinese food just didn’t meet my expectations.

This is one of the best—and few—places for dim sum in the South Bay. We make the journey all the way down from Santa Monica to enjoy a meal here instead of dealing with the crowds in Monterey Park or at Sea Empress in Redondo Beach. While they may not offer some of the more exotic items found at other dim sum spots, they do have all the classics. The regular menu is also impressive, featuring mostly Cantonese dishes rather than Szechuan. We often come here for family gatherings and even celebrated my daughter's graduation here.

My friends, family, and I have been dining at the Szechwan restaurant in Lomita since the early 1980s. It started as a small establishment, but it later expanded to the west and then again to the south, doubling its size each time. The secret to its success has always been its excellent food at reasonable prices. They serve the best wonton soup, grilled spare ribs, and hot braised shrimp you can find anywhere!
