Although there has been a recent change in the chef, my visits suggest that they continue to uphold their high quality and standards. The Oyakodon is also outstanding, featuring wonderfully tender chicken and eggs over perfectly cooked rice.
This is definitely my favorite Udon restaurant in town! Make sure to arrive right when they open at 11:30 a.m., as it tends to fill up quickly for lunch on the weekends. They offer udon both in soup and as a dish, served hot or cold. I highly recommend the spicy chicken udon—hot in the winter and cold in the summer. Pair that with a large draft beer, and you’re all set!
My wife and I aren't particularly fond of udon, but given the outstanding ratings, we decided to give it a try. We waited about 15 minutes for a table on a weekday evening, and while we waited, we were served some complimentary tofu. We placed our orders promptly, with everyone opting for the curry udon with tempura shrimp (I added a fried egg). The noodles were well-prepared—not quite al dente, but close enough. The shrimp were fantastic, served hot right from the kitchen. The fried egg added a lovely touch, and the broth was incredibly flavorful. I discovered some spicy condiments in a small jar on the table only after I had nearly finished my soup, so I didn't get to enhance my meal with them, but next time I would definitely use them from the start. As for the service, it was adequate, but there seemed to be either a shortage of servers considering the crowd (the restaurant is quite small) or they might have been overwhelmed with requests. We had to flag someone down to get the check and more water, which was a bit inconvenient.
This place is specialized in Udon. I prefer Ramen to say goodbye personally, but her Udon is so good that I take it over every average ramen place every day. The place fills up quickly during dinner so that they leave the reservation list for you to fill up before they open.
Oh my god! Udon heaven. This place is perfect for your Japanese carb needs. It is pricey for what you're getting but boy is it delicious. Small restaurant that does not take reservations so be prepared to wait.
