Amoremio - Loches

I have been going to this family run restaurant with my family for some years and the experience is always excellent. We went most recently on a Saturday evening and there was a great atmosphere and fantastic food.

We arrived having booked and were met with a fair amount of fluster before being seated. We are generally ok at French but were immediately made to feel inadequate with lots of eyebrow raising despite being understood across the rest of France. The staff serving us were incredibly bolshy and borderline aggressive; I guess one might end up like that having to work in a restaurant like this. The sharing plate starter came out with no plates so we ate off napkins. The pizzas were average at best and when I asked for pepper I was met with a blank look I was then handed a grubby grinder without even so much as a smile. Apparently in this ‘Italian’ restaurant black pepper is an annoyance. When clearing the plates, we had left quite a lot of our meal and the waitress grumpily said to my wife you did not enjoy your meal madam. Quite perceptive it turns out, but it was the first interaction we had had about the meal which suggested she was actually paying attention. When paying I misheard one of the items and asked for clarification and was made fun off by the two staff who thought I couldn’t understand them. Sadly this restaurant will prosper given the transient nature of tourists. I would avoid if I had another chance.

I have to start by saying this restaurant was recommended by our B&B Host and rated highly by trip advisor. So perhaps the good chef was off for our visit tonight but the food was terrible. Both our starters were bland but just about edible. However both mains were returned with little food eaten. My fresh pasta had a tomato sauce that had no flavor what so ever, my wife had mushy Gnocchi and vegetables in an oily sauce. We did not make a fuss, just asked for the food to be taken away however the waitress seemed shocked at our assessment of the food others found it good . We decided not to have dessert just drank our wine and paid the full bill. Would not recommend.

The food was quite good. I started with bruschetta that even I can manage to make a fist of, so no great skill required for that. I then went for the entrecote which was fine, but not stand out. I wouldn't rush back. Ice cream is ice cream and doesn't take too many culinary skills to wield a scoop. We then waited about forty minutes for a coffee. The service couldn't have been more laid back had it have been tucked up for the night. Yeah it was OK, but it ain't number two rated.

Magnifico!! é stato molto buono !! we were Sunday and it was almost 1 pm and I found this restaurant a little by chance, on the way back of Italian, what a chance!! an Italian restaurant held by Italians, in a little corner of france, not so common! I highly recommend it, very warm welcome as in italia, grazie é viva italia !!
