My twin brother and I were excited to explore our city and visit some of the great establishments it has to offer. One of the places at the top of our list was Rox, located on Castle Street. We sat outside on a sunny Spring afternoon and were greeted by a friendly staff member who took our details for the track and trace system. We ordered two beers, which were served cold and sparkling. We relaxed and enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar and the location. It was great to be out socializing again, even if it was socially distanced. The beers were delicious and refreshing, and it felt like a return to normalcy after a challenging year. Rox is easy to find on Castle Street, a beautiful area filled with bars and restaurants. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
My twin brother Stephen and I were strolling down Castle Street when we decided to check out ROX, a bar we had never been to before. I was impressed by the bar's appearance, with its exposed brickwork, stylish décor, and comfortable furnishings. The main room featured a sturdy wooden bar, with ample seating options both inside and outside overlooking the bustling Castle Street. We visited on a Thursday afternoon, providing our details for the government's track and trace system and sanitizing our hands before ordering a real ale each. We opted for a pale ale from Hawkshead Brewery, which was served in excellent condition. We relaxed and savored the fantastic atmosphere of the bar. The pale ale was outstanding – crisp, well-balanced, and bursting with flavor, making it very easy to drink. We both love this style of real ale. The cool and relaxed vibe of the bar was enjoyable, and we had a great time before continuing on our way. ROX is conveniently located on Castle Street, with opening hours from 9am until midnight Monday to Thursday, 9am until 2am on Friday and Saturday, and 9am until midnight on Sunday. I highly recommend visiting this great bar if you are in the area.
We are regulars at this bar and live in the city center. We have visited many times, even when it was called Pinch. However, our experience last night, on the 31st of January, was disappointing. We arrived around 7 with my partner, my son, and his girlfriend. When we went to the bar, the bartender informed us that it was table service. The girls were going to sit at a table by the bar, while my son and I were planning to stand. The bartender insisted that we sit down, but I said I didn't want to. He responded by saying that we wouldn't be served if we didn't sit. As regular customers, we were appalled by the attitude of the three staff members working that night. We have always supported this bar, even when it was struggling, and we had spent over £100 there the previous Saturday. However, after this experience, we have decided that we will never go to Rox again.
This bar is perfect for a chilled evening. The staff are friendly and there is a nice atmosphere. As it’s only small I can imagine tables and seats to be at a premium at busy times.
An amazing small bar, tucked away within Castle Street, slightly too sweet with the Long Island iced tea and the espresso martini but still very nice and very good service still highly recommend
