Our family had a wonderful dinner on our first night in Lisbon. Mr. Santos was a wonderful host and even open his doors a few minutes earlier to allow our hungry group to sit down and eat. The food was delicious and the service wonderful. We enjoyed a variety of dishes amongst all of us and none of them disappointed. Wonderful, small quaint restaurant. Will definitely go back on our return visit to Lisbon.
Arriving by train from Porto to Lisbon just before lunchtime I asked about a restaurant where locals not tourist might eat. The Marriott recommend a local place a short two blocks from the hotel. It was even better than advertised! My wife got the shrimp and spaghetti which was freshly made. Be prepared in Portugal to take the heads off your prawns at the table, but it was great. I got the fish soup which had shrimp, monk fish, octopus and vegetables. It was served very hot. I also had a speciality of the house, seafood and rice. It arrived in a Black pot and the owner, Sr Santos, served a portion in my plate. It included all the above named seafood plus clams. It also was excellent. Wine at lunch is a rarity for us but my wife had a glass of a local white wine and I had a red wine from the Douro Valley. Both were very good. Finally, we never eat desserts but fir a change we ordered a banana split to share. Mango, mint and strawberry ice cream with large black cherries, bananas, chocolate sauce and whip cream was exceptional. We are in Lisbon for three days and will definitely try to find our way here again
This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at the Marriott Hotel for lunch. The octopus and fish salads were excellent. Service was good. It was a short walk from the hotel.
Like other reviewers, we stayed at the Marriott and were recommended this place. It's a tiny little taverna with an extensive selection of dishes and wines. I ordered a delicious steak served with garlic gravy and it was wonderful.
