Pöstlingberg Schlössl - Linz Stadt

My husband, son and I were sightseeing up in Postlingberg while in Linz. Travel sites said there were a few places to grab a bite to eat when there but due to the holidays, we found only this restaurant open. When entering, we were told we needed reservations but as we were ready to depart, the Maitre d'/host, Anton, said he would find us a table. The service was excellent and the dinning area is elegant. This is the 3rd high end restaurant we've dined at since being in Austria and we enjoyed the food here the most. My local trout with lentils had perfect texture and seasoning. My husband, who had the stuffed cabbage, said it's the best meal he has had since arriving in Austria over a week ago. We also had the pumpkin foam (I think it was a little frothy cream on top? soup which was very good; the pumpkin was subtle. We gave it 5 stars for the service and that we like the food better than the Michelin rated restaurant we had eaten at earlier on our trip.

We ordered the four course meal and had to work very hard to finish. It was a perfect amount of food and was delightfully delicious. equal to the quality and flavor of the food was the beautiful vista surrounding our dining table.

The view is better than the food and service. I wish I could have come for lunch during the day, but dinner was planned with a group of girls from the office. The bread and dips were very delicious, but my main dish (lamb) was very tough. I was a little worried about having lamb with mashed potatoes and black beans, but the strange combination was very delicious. Just wish the lamb was more fall off the bone like I can get in the US. After dinner we ordered desserts and coffee. The dessert came.....but never the coffee. We searched for the waiter, even walked to the front to question the coffees. They finally arrived. After paying the bill we walked to the top of the church viewing point to see the city and all the lights. It was fairly overcast that day and a lot of fog, but you can still see a good amount of the city. I have suggested this spot for the view only, not necessarily the food to a colleague that just arrived in Linz.

Die Küche ist wirklich ausgezeichnet, sie kennen sich gut mit Kontamination aus. Mir wurde ein spezielles glutenfreies 5-Gänge-Menü gezaubert. Das Personal ist freundlich und kompetent!

We‘ve been a big group of people to eat dinner there. After telling the waiter about several allergies and intolerances the owner came to talk about the menu he could offer. The chef created something unique and delicious, which was not listed on the card.
